For centuries black mothers have been holding their families together with strength, faith, courage and love. They have built cities and empires with their sons and daughters. They have been the lifeblood of a people, its source and its fountainhead.
 
For centuries black mothers have cradled tiny babies in their arms, and flooded them with a nourishing and sustaining love. They have watched their children grow, laughed with them, cried for them, supported them in a million different ways, just as you have done with me.
 
For centuries black mothers have raised mighty people. But to me, the greatest of all those mothers is you. I love you! Happy Mother's Day!
